Mike Trout Hits a Home Run as Angels Overcome Challenges to Defeat the White Sox
Angels Secure 4-3 Victory Over White Sox with Late Rally
In an exciting matchup on Tuesday night, the Los Angeles Angels clinched a narrow 4-3 win against the Chicago White Sox. Home runs from Mike Trout, Jorge Soler, and Zach Neto solidified the Angels’ efforts, while Ryan Zeferjahn emerged as a key player, navigating a challenging ninth inning.
Zeferjahn faced a bases-loaded situation in the game’s final frame, hitting a batter and allowing two walks before securing his first save of the season with a groundout from Edgar Quero. The right-hander also struck out rookie sensation Munetaka Murakami, who shares the American League home run lead with 14, concluding a tense eighth inning.
Trout, who hit his 11th homer of the season and the 415th of his career, launched a shot off Erick Fedde (0-4) in the first inning. This came after the White Sox had put two runs on the board against Sam Aldegheri earlier in the inning. Soler followed suit with his eighth home run, bringing the game to a 2-2 tie.
In the fifth inning, Neto broke free from a 0-for-23 slump with a two-out homer, marking his sixth of the season and putting the Angels ahead 3-2. Trout’s fourth trip to the base after a walk, culminated in a run off a double from Nolan Schanuel, extending the lead to 4-2 and ultimately forcing Fedde off the mound. Trout’s impactful performance included a single in the eighth inning as well.
On the other side, Chase Meidroth contributed to the White Sox’s offense, hitting his second home run in the seventh to bring the score to 4-3. Both Colson Montgomery and Miguel Vargas maintained impressive on-base streaks, extending theirs to 18 games.
José Fermin (1-1) secured the win with a scoreless fifth inning, while Aldegheri’s outing included two runs on four hits over four innings in his sixth career start. Fedde’s line showed four runs allowed on six hits across 4 2/3 innings.
Notably, the top four batters in the Angels’ lineup all contributed to runs batted in for the first time since June 18, 2021, against the Tigers. This victory not only boosts the Angels’ morale but also provides a promising outlook as they progress through the season.
