Two years after their marriage in Southern California, the Pretty Little Liars alum welcomed their first child, Aurora, in October 2018, followed by the birth of Elliot in May 2021. Adams announced on Instagram in January 2026 that they had welcomed their third child.
While the couple typically maintains privacy regarding their family life, they occasionally share personal moments on social media. For National Daughters Day in September 2023, Bellisario posted a rare photo of her daughters on Instagram.
“Apparently today is #nationaldaughtersday but then I don’t understand what literally every other day of the year is… I couldn’t be more grateful to be the mother of these two wild forces of nature,” she wrote. “You have always been and will always be my favorite human beings.”

In July 2022, Bellisario spoke about her experience as a working mother in an interview with The Nerds of Color. She noted that her approach to projects has evolved due to the demands of parenting.
“I’m not able to just do a bunch of things in the way that I once was when I was 20, 21. I had more time,” she said. “When I read a role, it’s got to grab me in a way that I say, ‘Oh, this is worth not putting my daughters to bed that night.’”
She added, “I only want to do the work that allows me to be with them and also show up at work excited.”

The couple welcomed their first child, Aurora Adams, on October 4, 2018. Shortly after her birth, both Adams and Bellisario shared on Instagram their excitement, posting photos of the newborn’s tiny fingers clutching theirs.
“The world just got 8 lbs heavier. Thank you to everyone who fought for and protected our privacy during this incredible and beautiful time in our lives,” Adams wrote in his post, while Bellisario expressed, “I couldn’t be more proud to be her mother. To bring a new girl into this world and do my best to raise her to be kind, strong, and whatever the heck she wants to be.”
Two weeks later, Adams shared insights about new fatherhood, humorously noting the challenges of sleep deprivation. “Oh man, we are two weeks in. It has just taught me how much sleep means,” he joked, adding, “But it is good, it’s great.”
In February 2019, Bellisario reflected on her initial fears about raising a daughter during an appearance on Katie Lowes’ podcast, Katie’s Crib. “When we found out we were having a girl, I was floored; I was shocked. Of course, I was worried,” she said, reflecting on her relationship with her mother and past experiences with an eating disorder.
Yet, she quickly felt an overwhelming love and connection, expressing, “Immediately, I just didn’t want to be apart from her. I couldn’t stop staring at her. I felt immediate love, responsibility, and admiration for her. She was awesome.”

The couple kept Aurora’s name a secret until her first birthday when Bellisario shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. In an interview with Teen Vogue in November 2019, she revealed the inspiration behind the name Aurora.
“We had a different name in mind, but then considered boy’s names since we didn’t know her sex. We were looking at the name Helios and thought of Eos, but didn’t like Eos. Eventually, we learned that Eos was Aurora in Roman mythology, the goddess of the dawn,” she explained.
Bellisario added, “We thought it would be nice that she would be our dawning of a new day in our lives, but that felt cumbersome. Aurora kept cropping up, though, and we couldn’t shake it.”
Though Aurora shares a name with a Disney princess, Bellisario mentioned that she did not consider that aspect, focusing instead on the historical context.
In October 2022, Bellisario commemorated Aurora’s fourth birthday by sharing a series of photos on Instagram from throughout the years.
“I cannot believe I’ve only known you four years. You have shaped me in a way no other human being could,” she wrote, alongside an E.E. Cummings poem. “You made me into a mother, and I am so grateful that you were the one to do it.”

The couple welcomed their second daughter, Elliot Rowena Adams, on May 15, 2021. Bellisario and Adams announced the news on Instagram, sharing their excitement with heartfelt posts.
Bellisario posted a black-and-white image of herself holding her newborn, captioning it, “Ms. Elliot Rowena Adams joined us on May 15th under wild circumstances. A whole new ERA for this family.”
Adams shared a photo of Elliot’s hand grasping his finger, writing, “+1…..Welcome to the funhouse, Ms. Elliot Rowena Adams. May your life be as unique and exciting as your arrival.”
During a June 2021 podcast appearance on Katie’s Cribs, the couple recounted how Bellisario unexpectedly gave birth to Elliot in their car while on the way to the hospital. After a hectic drive, Adams had to assist in the delivery as there was no time to seek additional help.
“I’m starting to have to push my seat belt away from me,” Bellisario recalled while recounting the frantic situation. Adams described the moment, stating, “As soon as I hit the button and grabbed the ticket, she’s screaming.” It all unfolded within a matter of minutes.
After successfully delivering Elliot, Adams expressed relief upon hearing their daughter’s first cries, while Bellisario was both happy and amazed.

One month after her birth, Elliot made her film debut in Bellisario’s 2022 project, Doula. She portrayed the character Deb’s newborn daughter, captured in a powerful moment during the film.
Bellisario humorously recounted that the initial shot with Elliot was staged while she was still pregnant, expressing the magic of finally holding her daughter on set.

In January 2026, Adams announced the arrival of their third child, sharing a photo of the newborn’s hand accompanied by the caption “Tag, you’re it.”
Earlier, in November 2025, Bellisario revealed her pregnancy during her 40th birthday celebration, noting, “Here comes a new decade and a whole new human to go with it.”
In an Instagram post directed to their unborn child, Adams expressed, “We don’t know your name yet. We don’t know your gender, what your smile looks like, or what your first laugh will do to our hearts. What we do know is that we have an infinite supply of love waiting for you.”
He concluded with heartfelt sentiments about the excitement of becoming parents again, saying, “We don’t know much, but we know there is nothing we want to be more than your parents.”
