Maura Higgins Shares How Rob Rausch Made His Heartfelt Birkin Apology with Help from Lisa Rinna
In a surprising turn of events, Maura Higgins confirmed that her co-star Rob Rausch followed through on his extravagant promise to gift her a coveted Birkin bag, despite previous betrayals during the dramatic finale of Season 4 of “The Traitors.”
During an exclusive interview with SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio, Higgins expressed her initial skepticism about Rausch’s intentions, recalling how he repeatedly asserted his resolve to get her the luxury item. “He brought it up at the reunion and then I was like, ‘Whatever,’” she said. “Then when we were filming Eric Nam’s music video, he brought it up to me and he goes, ‘You know I’m definitely getting you the bag.’ And I was kind of like, ‘Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it.’”
Her doubts were shared by several castmates, who questioned whether Rausch would keep his word. “A lot of the other cast members from the castle were kind of like, ‘Oh Maura, you’re believing in this man again,’” Higgins chuckled. However, she pointed out that her perspective shifted once the game ended: “I actually am — because we’re not in a game anymore. So, I’m laughing now. Who’s laughing? Me!”
Her faith was rewarded when Rausch presented her with a stunning burgundy Hermès Togo Birkin 30, accented with gold hardware, on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen” this week. The bag, valued between $16,000 and $22,000, became the highlight of the episode.
Higgins credited fellow “Traitors” star Lisa Rinna as instrumental in securing the prized handbag. “It’s crazy. I call her my American mom now,” she revealed. “She’s been really cheering me on and rooting for me, and that means a lot to me.” When Rausch expressed the desire to get the Birkin, Higgins encouraged him to seek Rinna’s assistance, knowing the challenges of acquiring one. “You can’t just walk into an Hermès store and buy a Birkin. It’s not easy. You have to have an appointment. Some people are on waitlists for, like, over a year,” Higgins explained.
Rinna, renowned for her connections, helped Rausch navigate the process, ultimately directing him to the luxury reseller Madison Avenue Couture. “I said to him, ‘Lisa will make that happen.’ And she was like, ‘Of course I will,’” Higgins added confidently.
Interestingly, the burgundy bag aligned perfectly with Higgins’ aspirations. “The last one I got was, like, a creamy color and I said to all my friends, ‘The next one’s gonna be burgundy,’” she shared. “I think I bought my last one only, like, a couple of months ago.”
With Rausch’s successful gift, Higgins’ experience on “The Traitors” has taken a positive turn, reaffirming her belief in the possibility of these connections beyond the game. “The Traitors” is currently available to stream on Peacock.
