Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen Step Out Together in Coordinated Outfits Before Met Gala 2026
Olsen Twins Spotted in Rare Public Outing Ahead of 2026 Met Gala
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen made a fashionable appearance in Manhattan on Thursday, just days before the highly anticipated 2026 Met Gala. The twin fashion moguls were seen enjoying lunch with a friend, embodying their signature style with straight-leg jeans, dark coats, and minimalist mules.
The 39-year-old sisters accessorized with distinctive scarves, sunglasses, and matching handbags from their luxury brand, The Row. Mary-Kate carried a rare alligator Lady Bag valued at $33,000, while Ashley sported a larger bowling bag crafted from soft crocodile leather. The twins flashed bright smiles as they strolled through the city, pausing to greet their friend with a warm embrace outside a sidewalk café.
The sisters’ recent outing comes amid speculation about their attendance at the Met Gala, scheduled for May 4. This year’s theme, “Costume Art,” aims to explore the importance of "the dressed body." The Olsens last attended the prestigious event in 2019, which featured the theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion.”
Since stepping back from the public eye, the former child stars have focused on their successful luxury fashion brand, The Row. Their previous public appearance was in November 2025 when they attended the CDFA Fashion Awards, donning matching black coats and extravagant vintage Cartier jewelry valued at over $400,000.

The twins maintain a notably private lifestyle. Ashley welcomed her son, Otto, in 2023 with her husband, artist Louis Eisner, while Mary-Kate has kept a low profile since settling her divorce from Olivier Sarkozy in January 2021. Recently, she sparked dating rumors with retired hockey player Sean Avery, after they were spotted together in the Hamptons over Memorial Day weekend 2024.
Their pivot to fashion has been a lucrative decision. In a stark contrast to their earlier acting careers, their “Full House” co-star Jodie Sweetin revealed that she received a residual check for only one cent from the show. She explained that the transition to streaming has significantly diminished residual payments for performers.
As anticipation builds for the Met Gala, fans will be watching closely to see if the Olsens make a return to the red carpet.
