Maria Zhang from Avatar: The Last Airbender Stars in Fox Drama Series The Interrogator
Maria Zhang Joins Cast of Fox’s ‘The Interrogator’
Maria Zhang, recognized for her role as Suki in Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender, has been welcomed into the series regular cast of Fox’s upcoming drama, The Interrogator.
The series follows former MI6 agent Conrad Henry, played by Stephen Fry, who, along with his elite team, utilizes unconventional methods to engage with some of the world’s most dangerous criminals. Through his distinctive charm and keen intellect, Henry stands out as a master of psychological manipulation.
Zhang will portray Florence, a character characterized by her idealism and optimism within the team. She is adept at handling technology, including hacking, evidence gathering, and creating deepfakes. Despite her intense work in espionage, Florence has successfully led a dual life, with her fiancée, Dana, unaware that she has shifted from game development to spy craft. Additionally, she is entangled in a physical affair with her teammate, Voss, played by Luke Kleintank.
Alongside Fry and Kleintank, the cast features Michael Beach as Louis, Henry’s best friend and the first member of his team; Jenna Elfman as CIA rising star Woodrow; and Jessica Sula as Astrid, a criminal psychologist and Henry’s estranged daughter.
Production of The Interrogator is backed by Lionsgate Television and Fox Entertainment, which ordered a straight-to-series run comprising 12 episodes for the 2026-27 season. The pilot script was crafted by Fry, with contributions from Matt Pyken and William Harper. The series will be executive produced by Dan Dworkin and Jay Beattie, alongside Fry, Harper, and director Paul McGuigan.
Zhang’s career highlights also include roles in ABC’s The Rookie and Netflix’s A Man on the Inside. She is set to take on a leading role in the forthcoming feature film Busted. As a Polish-Chinese actress, Zhang has a background in English-language theatre in China and has also engaged with a community theatre group in Poland. She is represented by Artium Talent, Authentic Talent and Literary Management, and Granderson Des Rochers.
