Paramount Pictures Secures Rights for New ‘Longlegs’ Film Starring Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage to Star in Sequel to Hit Horror Film
Actor Nicolas Cage is set to star in and produce a sequel to his successful horror film, with Osgood Perkins returning as writer, director, and producer. Perkins, who helmed the original film featuring Cage alongside Maika Monroe, Alicia Witt, Kiernan Shipka, and Blair Underwood, will oversee the creative direction of the follow-up.
The film is being produced by Brian Kavanaugh Jones of Range Media Partners, Perkins and Chris Ferguson through their company, Phobos, and Dave Caplan under his C2 banner, which previously secured the rights to the property.
While specific details about the sequel remain confidential, it will take place within the same universe as the original film. The first installment achieved remarkable success, recording the highest opening weekend for an original horror film to date when it premiered in July 2024, grossing $22.6 million—the top debut for a Neon film.
Perkins, noted for directing the $128 million-grossing "Longlegs," recently concluded work on "The Young People," which stars Nicole Kidman, Lola Tung, and Nico Parker.
Monroe has further expanded her portfolio, featuring in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel, "Reminders of Him," alongside Tyriq Withers.
Perkins is supported by CAA and Untitled, as well as attorney Jonathan Shikora from Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark. Perkins and Ferguson’s Phobos have established a first-look deal with Neon, the distribution company led by Tom Quinn.
Cage is represented by WME, Stride Management, and Patrick Knapp at GGSSC.
