Man On Fire Continues to Shine at the Top of Netflix English TV Rankings While Lord of the Flies Falls Short in the U.S.
“Man on Fire” Dominates Netflix Viewership in Early Days of Release
The new series Man on Fire is making significant waves in Netflix’s English TV rankings, securing 12.6 million views between May 4 and May 10. Starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, the show has captured a strong audience since its debut on April 30, where it initially garnered 11 million views within the first days of its launch.
While these numbers indicate a successful start, analysts suggest it may take time for the series to break into Netflix’s most popular list, as this typically requires sustained viewer engagement over the upcoming weeks.
Man on Fire outperformed its competitors on the platform by a substantial margin. The docuseries Should I Marry a Murderer?, which explores a woman’s experience following her husband’s admission of murder, secured second place with 8 million views.
Season 2 of Worst Ex Ever closely followed, also with 8 million views, while Legends took fourth place with 3.4 million views, and Running Point Season 2 rounded out the top five with 3.3 million views.
In a contrasting performance, Netflix’s adaptation of Lord of the Flies, which premiered on May 4, has not met expectations in the U.S. market. The series, ranking eighth on the English TV list with 2.5 million views, is the first time this four-part adaptation has been made available in the U.S., following its initial airing on BBC.
The limited availability of Lord of the Flies outside the U.S. may be impacting its overall reach, as viewers in the U.S. typically drive a substantial portion of Netflix’s English-language streaming. In comparison, Adolescence debuted at No. 1 in the U.S., amassing 24.5 million views globally within its first few days, although specific U.S. viewership numbers remain undisclosed. Last week, Lord of the Flies ranked third in U.S. viewership, leaving open the possibility that increased word of mouth could boost its performance in the weeks ahead.
