Man Arrested for Causing Traffic Jam on LA Freeway While Shooting Music Video
Man Charged for Filming Music Video on LA Freeway
A man has been charged with felony offenses after shutting down a segment of the 110 Freeway in downtown Los Angeles to film a music video.
Details of the Incident
Eduardo Erik MartÃnez, 32, faces multiple charges, including one count of conspiracy to commit exhibition of speed and two counts of felony vandalism. He has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to return to court on December 11.
According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, on November 22, 2023, during the rush hour, MartÃnez coordinated with several vehicles to block the northbound lanes of the 110 Freeway near the 9th Street off-ramp. While vehicles performed donuts around him, he began recording his music video. The incident resulted in significant traffic congestion, affecting commuters for miles.
"This was incredibly reckless behavior, all in search of a ‘viral moment’ on social media," said Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman.
Additional Charges
MartÃnez is also facing charges for vandalizing a bench at the Foltz Criminal Justice Center during a court appearance related to an unrelated matter on October 21, 2024. If convicted of the charges, he risks a maximum sentence of four years and four months in jail, with bail set at $100,000.
