Ramin Bahrani Begins Production on Las Vegas Film
Las Vegas, NV — Oscar-nominated filmmaker Ramin Bahrani has commenced production today on his latest project, Vegas: A Love Story, in the vibrant setting of Las Vegas. Renowned for films like The White Tiger, 99 Homes, and Chop Shop, Bahrani’s new work is described as a romantic thriller featuring an impressive cast, including Maika Monroe, Brandon Sklenar, Paul Dano, Michael Shannon, and Judy Greer.
Set against the iconic backdrop of the Las Vegas Strip, Vegas: A Love Story explores the life of Dillon (Monroe), a talented graphic designer grappling with her challenging circumstances while living in her car. She unexpectedly finds love with Freddy (Sklenar), a welder and single father. Complications arise when Dillon’s ex, Ryder (Dano), re-enters the picture, threatening their budding relationship, while Freddy’s cautious in-laws, played by Shannon and Greer, also add to the tension.
The film is produced by A/Vantage Pictures, Sugar Rush Pictures, and Noruz Films, with Juniper Productions leading the financing. Producers described this project as Bahrani’s most commercially focused work to date, marking a significant venture for A/Vantage since its inception.
Producers involved include Jason Michael Berman, whose previous credits encompass Highest 2 Lowest, Air, and The Birth of a Nation. Berman expressed enthusiasm for partnering with Bahrani, noting the unique storytelling the filmmaker brings and praising the extraordinary ensemble cast.
"I’ve spent over a year in Las Vegas to write and prepare this film, a story about people living close to the edge, who don’t believe they deserve love, and find it anyway," Bahrani remarked. He acknowledged the influence of his late friend and producer Kevin Turen in forging connections for this project.
Berman also highlighted the film’s urgent and socially relevant themes, underscoring their excitement to debut Vegas: A Love Story later this year.
Producer Andrea Bucko shared her hopes that the film will resonate with audiences by showcasing the journey of fractured characters finding love against all odds.
WME Independent is handling worldwide rights for Vegas: A Love Story, which features an extensive list of executive producers, including Sklenar and Dano.
Monroe, currently seen in Longlegs, has a busy slate ahead, featuring in projects like Place to Be and a film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him. Sklenar is known for his recent role in The Housemaid and will appear in the upcoming Warner Bros. action thriller F.A.S.T. Dano is set to star in several high-profile films, further solidifying his prominence in the industry.
As production moves forward, audience anticipation builds for what promises to be a compelling exploration of love and resilience in a city known for its bright lights and hidden struggles.
