Scott Wolf Makes His Comeback to Doc After Divorcing Kelley Wolf
Scott Wolf’s Return to ‘Doc’ Amid Personal Challenges
Scott Wolf is set to return to television as Dr. Richard Miller in the upcoming episode of Doc, scheduled to air on Tuesday, January 20. This marks Wolf’s first television appearance since filing for divorce from his estranged wife, Kelley Wolf, in June 2025.
The preview of the episode reveals a flashback scene where Wolf’s character confronts Dr. Amy Larsen, played by Molly Parker, following a tense moment after she reprimands Dr. Brian Clarke, portrayed by Matthew Bennett, for treating her patient without consent. This confrontation raises questions about the professional dynamics among the characters.
In a dramatic exchange, Richard confronts Amy, questioning her public disparagement of Brian, asking, “You told Brian he’s in the minor leagues in front of how many people?” Amy defends her actions, retorting, “He almost killed my patient.” Richard responds with a critique of her methods, stating, “So that’s how it is now? Humiliate everyone on your way to the top?”
As the episode unfolds, Richard expresses concern for Amy, questioning the changes in her behavior following a traumatic loss. He tells her, “You’re in pain, and you’re acting out on everyone because of it.”
The episode, titled “Inquisition,” initiates Wolf’s multi-episode guest arc on the medical drama, which centers around Amy as she navigates life after a car accident resulted in a traumatic brain injury affecting her memory. The story progresses from Richard’s previous dismissal as chief of internal medicine after a patient’s death linked to his oversight.
Scott Wolf recently made his directorial debut with an episode aired on January 13, further marking his creative contribution to the show.
Wolf’s return comes during a tumultuous period in his personal life. He filed for divorce on June 9, 2025, after 21 years of marriage and is a father to three children. Following the filing, Kelley Wolf faced significant mental health challenges, leading to legal actions between the couple, including temporary custody arrangements and protective orders.
In October, Scott expressed gratitude toward his fans for their support during this challenging time, stating, “I could not be more excited to share that I will be coming back for season 2 of Doc on Fox.”
As they move forward, the implications of Wolf’s return to the screen alongside his ongoing personal difficulties are likely to attract attention, both in the realm of television and beyond.
New episodes of Doc air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
