The Fairmont San Francisco hotel confirmed that Victoria Jones was found deceased on January 1. The hotel stated it is fully cooperating with authorities as the investigation unfolds.
In a statement, press director Michelle Heston expressed, “We are deeply saddened by an incident that occurred at the hotel on January 1, 2026. Our heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones during this very difficult time.” She also confirmed that hotel personnel are assisting police in the ongoing inquiry.
At approximately 2:52 a.m. on January 1, the San Francisco Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported medical emergency at the Fairmont. Upon arrival, they located a deceased individual whose identity was not disclosed at that time.
Later, authorities confirmed that the deceased was Victoria Jones, 34, the daughter of actor Tommy Lee Jones and his ex-wife Kimberlea Cloughley. The couple also has a son, Austin Jones, who is 43.
It remains unclear whether Victoria was staying at the hotel or merely visiting. The Fairmont was hosting a New Year’s Luau that night, featuring live music and dancing, as well as its renowned Mai Tai cocktails.

Victoria Jones had faced legal troubles, with at least two arrests in the past year, including one for drug possession. Recent dispatch audio indicates that her death may have been the result of a drug overdose. The incident was characterized in dispatch audio as a “code 3 for the overdose, color change.”
The term “color change” in overdose situations refers to cyanosis, which indicates low oxygen levels in the bloodstream. This can lead to a bluish or purple discoloration of the skin, lips, and nails, according to medical sources.
NBC Bay Area reports that authorities do not suspect foul play in this case.
