### 2026 Grammy Awards: Lola Young Makes a Comeback
Lola Young marked her return to the stage with a live piano performance of her hit song “Messy” at the 2026 Grammy Awards on February 2. This performance was her first on television since a career break following her on-stage collapse at the All Things Go Music Festival in New York City in September 2025.
Young’s emotional comeback was not only highlighted by her performance but also by her win for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Messy.” In the press room after her victory, she opened up about the challenges she faced during her hiatus, emphasizing the importance of mental health in the demanding music industry.
“You’ve got to protect your mental health in this industry. This is a very difficult industry to be in,” Young stated. “I took the time out to get better because there are a lot of things going on right now in my head, in my personal life.”
Discussing her decision to step back from the spotlight, she noted, “I had to make a decision to do it for myself and to be kind to myself, give myself space.” Expressing gratitude to her supporters, Young remarked, “But now I am back. I feel better. I will do as much that I can to be good for my fans, and to be good for the people that love me. Thank you for all of my fans and everyone that supports me and everyone who understands me. It’s a very beautiful moment.”
Following her collapse at the All Things Go festival, Young announced the cancellation of her upcoming performances on Instagram, expressing her sadness and gratitude for the support she received.
In 2026, Young candidly addressed her struggle with addiction and mental health, saying, “I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.”
As she stepped onto the Grammy stage, Young admitted to feeling “actually nervous as hell.” “I can’t lie,” she shared, reflecting on both her Grammy performance and her earlier appearance at Spotify’s Best New Artist party. “We as artists, we have nerves. This is what I want to do. This is the place where I feel like I belong. On stage is where I feel like I belong.”
