Lisa from Blackpink Joins ‘The White Lotus’ Producer David Bernad for a New Netflix Rom-Com by Writer Katie Silberman
Lisa of Blackpink to Star in New Netflix Romantic Comedy
Thai rapper, singer, dancer, and actress Lisa, renowned for her role in Blackpink, is teaming up once again with David Bernad, executive producer of The White Lotus, for a new romantic comedy set to premiere on Netflix. The script will be written by Katie Silberman, known for her work on Set It Up.
While the official plot details remain undisclosed, sources indicate that the concept was developed during the production of The White Lotus. Lisa and Bernad found common ground in their admiration for the classic romantic comedy Notting Hill, which features Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant. Following their discussions, they enlisted Silberman to craft the screenplay.
Bernad will produce the film through his Middle Child Productions, with Silberman also on board as a producer. Lisa and Alice Kang will serve as executive producers for the project.
Currently, Lisa is preparing for her first significant film role in TYGO, a new installment in Netflix’s Extraction universe.
Lisa initially gained fame as part of Blackpink, one of the best-selling girl groups in history. She made her solo debut in 2021 with the single album LALISA and released her first solo album, Alter Ego, in February, which debuted at number seven on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Top Album Sales chart.
In addition to her music career, Lisa made her screen debut in The White Lotus Season 3, portraying Mook, a wellness professional and love interest of Tayme Thapthimthong’s character, Gaitok.
Silberman, who has earned acclaim for her writing, created Set It Up, one of Netflix’s most popular romantic comedies, and co-wrote Olivia Wilde’s Booksmart, which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay by both the WGA and BAFTA. She is represented by CAA, 42, and Myman Greenspan.
Bernad, a producer with accolades including an Emmy, Golden Globe, Peabody, and PGA Award, is currently working on the fourth season of The White Lotus, set in France, as well as the second season of the Emmy-nominated series Jury Duty and Little Brother, a Netflix comedy featuring John Cena and Eric André. He is repped by CAA and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
