Lang Fisher and Tina Fey Bring Elle Cosimano’s ‘Finlay Donovan Is Killing It’ to Life on Peacock
Lang Fisher to Adapt Elle Cosimano’s Novel for Peacock
Lang Fisher, known for her work on The Four Seasons and Never Have I Ever, is set to develop a television adaptation of Elle Cosimano’s novel Finlay Donovan Is Killing It for Peacock.
Fisher will serve as an executive producer, alongside Tina Fey, who will produce through her Little Stranger, Inc. banner. Other executive producers include Eric Gurian, David Miner, and Cosimano herself. The adaptation will be produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, where both Fisher and Fey have overall deals.
Finlay Donovan Is Killing It tells the story of a struggling novelist and single mother who, amid fears of losing custody of her children, is mistakenly identified as an assassin and offered a substantial payout for a single kill.
This project is based on the first book in Cosimano’s widely popular Finlay Donovan Mysteries series, which currently includes six titles, with a seventh, Finlay Donovan Crosses The Line, being released today. Cosimano is represented by WME and LGR Literary.
Fisher is also a co-showrunner of The Four Seasons, a Netflix comedy inspired by the 1981 movie of the same name, which she created with Fey and Tracey Wigfield. Development of the new adaptation will not interfere with her ongoing work on The Four Seasons.
Prior to this, Fisher co-created and served as showrunner for the acclaimed Netflix series Never Have I Ever, which received the People’s Choice Award for Best Comedy Show in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Her extensive credits also include work as a writer and producer on three seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, five seasons of The Mindy Project, and a staff writing role on the Emmy-nominated final season of 30 Rock. She is represented by UTA, 3Arts, and Ziffren Brittenham LLP.
Tina Fey, an award-winning writer, actress, producer, and author, gained fame for her role as Liz Lemon on NBC’s 30 Rock, which she co-wrote and co-executive produced. Fey also spent nine seasons as a writer and cast member on Saturday Night Live. In 2018, she wrote the book for Mean Girls: The Musical, the Broadway adaptation of her film Mean Girls. The musical received 12 Tony Award nominations, and Fey’s husband, Jeff Richmond, composed the show’s music.
Fey has co-created and executive produced several popular television series and films, including Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Great News, Mr. Mayor, Mulligan, and Girls5eva. Her film work includes notable titles such as Baby Mama, Date Night, Sisters, and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Most recently, she reprised her role as Ms. Norbury in the film adaptation of Mean Girls: The Musical, for which she also served as screenwriter and producer.
