Kristen Stewart and Wagner Moura Start Filming A24’s Vampire Film ‘Flesh of the Gods’ with New Cast Members at Cannes Market
Production Begins on ‘Flesh of the Gods’ Starring Kristen Stewart and Wagner Moura
The highly anticipated vampire thriller Flesh of the Gods, set in the 1980s, has officially commenced production in the Canary Islands, Spain. The film will transition to Cologne, Germany, for its second shooting phase.
Newly added to the cast are Esmé Creed-Miles, known for A Head Full of Ghosts, Roland Møller from Citadel, and Alba Baptista, recognized for her work in Voltron. The film is directed by Panos Cosmatos, who gained acclaim for his previous work on Mandy.
Kristen Stewart and Moura portray Raoul and Alex, a married couple who enjoy the lavish lifestyle of 1980s Los Angeles. Each night, they descend from their upscale condominium to explore a vibrant nightlife. Their journey leads them to encounter the enigmatic character Nameless and her captivating group, pulling Raoul and Alex into a thrilling and surreal world filled with hedonism and violence.
The screenplay is penned by Andrew Kevin Walker, acclaimed for Se7en, based on a story by both Cosmatos and Walker. The film brings together new production partners, including Hyperobject Industries, Augenschein Filmproduktion, Nevermind Pictures, and XYZ Films. XYZ Films and YouRoc are providing financing in association with IPR.VC and Vixens, with XYZ also managing international sales. Domestic rights are handled by CAA Media Finance and WME Independent.
Flesh of the Gods represents the fourth collaboration between Cosmatos and XYZ Films, following the recent Miley Cyrus project Something Beautiful, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. The companies are also developing Nekrokosm with A24.
Esmé Creed-Miles is set to star alongside Daisy Edgar-Jones in Georgia Oakley’s upcoming adaptation of Sense and Sensibility for Focus Features and Working Title. Recently, she was the lead in A Head Full of Ghosts, opposite Rebecca Hall.
Roland Møller first gained recognition for his role in the Oscar-nominated war drama Land of Mine, and has also appeared in films such as Atomic Blonde and Skyscraper.
Alba Baptista will soon be featured alongside Henry Cavill and Sterling K. Brown in the Amazon film Voltron, and she is widely known for her role in Netflix’s Warrior Nun.
Creed-Miles is represented by WME, Independent Talent Group, and Omni Artists. Møller is represented by CAA, and Baptista is with UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners.
