Khemmis Shares News of Upcoming Album and Tour, Plus New Track “Invocation of the Dreamer” Now Available to Stream
Khemmis, the acclaimed progressive doom metal band, has announced their upcoming self-titled album, set to be released on June 12 via Nuclear Blast Records. Accompanying this announcement is the debut of their lead single, “Invocation of the Dreamer.”
In addition to the album news, Khemmis has unveiled plans for two separate tours. The first, a headlining tour featuring support from Necrofier and Wretched, will commence on June 19 in Vancouver, British Columbia, and conclude on July 2 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The second tour will see the band supporting Monolord, who are expected to release their own record in May. This tour is slated to begin on August 27 in Chicago and wrap up on September 10 in Indianapolis.
Khemmis will also perform a special one-off show with Acid Bath and Chat Pile on May 16 in Oklahoma City.
The new single “Invocation of the Dreamer,” though shorter than typical tracks from Khemmis, retains the band’s signature epic doom melodies and harmonies. The band shared insights about their approach to the album, stating, “We decided early in the songwriting process that we wanted to write a tight, high-energy album that retained the essential ‘Khemmis sound’ while also embodying the joy of creating, experiencing, and loving heavy metal.”
This upcoming album marks the first featuring new bassist David Small, who joined the band in 2022, and is their second self-titled release, following their debut EP from 2013.
“Our songs have always been deeply personal, born from tragedy and sorrow,” the band explained. “While the songs on Khemmis are still undeniably dark—I don’t think we’re capable of writing ‘happy’ music—they are not mined from our suffering. Instead, this record is a celebration of the music world that has sustained us, both individually and collectively, and has also gifted us with community and a sense of meaning.”
The tracklist for Khemmis includes:
- Invocation of the Dreamer
- Corpsebloom Garden
- Grief’s Reverie
- Beneath the Scythe
- Gilded Chambers
