Josh Safran Brings New Sports Series ‘Glory Days’ to Netflix
Netflix Begins Development on New Scripted Series "Glory Days"
Netflix is reportedly in the early stages of development on a new scripted sports series titled Glory Days, created by Josh Safran, known for his work on Gossip Girl and Quantico. The series is being produced in collaboration with Skydance Sports, with Safran set to serve as the writer, showrunner, and executive producer, if the project progresses to production. Nancy Cotton has also been announced as an executive producer.
Glory Days will focus on the summer recruitment of top college baseball players to Cape Cod, where they compete for attention from international talent scouts. The narrative will delve into the intertwining lives of coaches, players, and local residents as they navigate challenges involving their futures, relationships, and personal secrets, likened to a blend of The OC and Bull Durham.
Netflix opted not to comment on the series at this time.
In addition to Glory Days, Safran is currently working on a pilot for the NBC drama Protection, which stars Peter Krause in the lead role of Mike Thornhill. The cast also includes Hope Davis, Tommy O’Brien, Kat Cunning, and Taylor Bloom.
Protection follows a U.S. Marshal whose routine case spirals into a complex conspiracy after a fellow Marshal falls in the line of duty. The Thornhill family, composed of law enforcement agents, must confront personal and professional challenges while attempting to safeguard each other and seek justice, even at the cost of compromising their core principles.
Josh Safran has a notable career in television, having served as creator, executive producer, and showrunner on several successful series, including ABC’s Quantico, Netflix’s Soundtrack, and HBO Max’s reboot of Gossip Girl. He was also a writer-producer for the original Gossip Girl series.
