In his post, Scott shared three images of the couple together along with a solo shot of Deschanel. He opened with the emotional message, “Happy birthday, Zooey ❤️,” and concluded with the affectionate phrase, “You’re magic! ❤️.”
Deschanel and Scott first crossed paths while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke in 2019. Their relationship progressed, culminating in Scott’s proposal to Deschanel in August 2023 during a family trip to Scotland. Notably, her two children, Elsie and Charlie, contributed to the proposal by revealing a banner that read, “Zooey, will you marry me?”
Reflecting on their relationship in December 2023, Deschanel mentioned to PEOPLE that the couple is taking their time with wedding planning, saying, “We’re not in a rush because we’ve been together so long.” She expressed the desire to make the occasion special, noting that “I’d rather find the right place and situation.”
