Rupert Grint and an Ensemble Cast Join ‘Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol’
Rupert Grint, Sam Claflin, Charlie Murphy, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, and Ellie Bamber have been cast in Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, a fresh adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless novel produced by Paramount and directed by Ti West. The film features Johnny Depp in the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge, with a release date set for November 13, 2026. Nathaniel Halpern has written the script, while Emma Watts serves as producer.
The classic Dickens narrative, which depicts an avaricious old man visited by the ghost of his former business partner along with the spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come, has inspired numerous interpretations over the years. This announcement marks the second adaptation of A Christmas Carol this year, following Warner Bros.’ development of a version by Robert Eggers, featuring Willem Dafoe as Scrooge.
According to sources, Grint is expected to portray Bob Cratchit, Scrooge’s devoted employee, although roles for the other cast members have not yet been disclosed. The narrative promises a thrilling ghost story set against the backdrop of Dickens’ London, where Scrooge confronts his past, present, and future in pursuit of redemption.
Stephen Deuters and Jason Forman will serve as executive producers, with Adam Bohling and David Reid also joining the production team.
