John Cena, Kate McKinnon, and Aimee Carrero Join Jennifer Garner in Netflix’s "One Attempt Remaining"
John Cena, best known for his role in Matchbox: The Movie, along with SNL alum Kate McKinnon and Aimee Carrero from Your Friends and Neighbors, have been cast alongside Jennifer Garner in the upcoming Netflix film One Attempt Remaining. This crypto-themed comedy is produced by 21 Laps and directed by Kay Cannon.
Details about the characters have yet to be revealed. The screenplay is penned by Joe Boothe, Alexa Alemanni, and Cannon. The plot revolves around an ex-couple who discover that the cryptocurrency they won during a wild night on a cruise is now worth millions. However, they face a pressing challenge: they must recover the forgotten password before their account expires in three days. As they retrace their memories of that fateful night, they aim to reclaim not just their fortune but also the reasons they fell in love.
Production efforts are being led by Shawn Levy and Dan Levine from 21 Laps, alongside Nicole King for Linden Productions. Garner, along with Cannon and Becca Edelman, Deanna Barillari, and Bergen Swanson, will serve as executive producers.
Currently, John Cena is seen in James Gunn’s HBO Max series Peacemaker and recently made a cameo in Apple TV’s Pluribus. He is expected to return to Netflix in the comedy Little Brother, featuring Eric André, set for release this year. Additionally, Cena has Coyote vs. Acme, which will premiere on August 28, after previously being shelved by Warner Bros. Discovery, and Matchbox: The Movie, scheduled for October 9. He is represented by WME, Intenta Management, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
Kate McKinnon, an Emmy winner with eleven seasons on SNL, recently premiered In the Blink of an Eye at Sundance. This drama, directed by Andrew Stanton, will start streaming on February 27. She has also starred alongside Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch in The Roses and has several projects lined up, including Neon’s The Wrong Girls and the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. McKinnon is represented by CAA, Artists First, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller.
Aimee Carrero is currently featured alongside Jon Hamm in Apple TV’s Your Friends and Neighbors, which was renewed for a third season prior to its April Season 2 premiere. She plays the role of Elena Benavides, a housekeeper entangled in a series of crimes. Carrero has also appeared in Searchlight’s The Menu and is represented by Gersh, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Skrzyniarz & Mallean.
