Jess Weixler, Landon Ashworth, and Colin O’Brien Star in Heartfelt Autism Drama ‘Father Son Time’
Production Begins on Indie Drama ‘Father Son Time’
Production is currently underway in the United States for the indie feature film Father Son Time, a character-driven drama starring Landon Ashworth, Colin O’Brien, and Jess Weixler.
The narrative centers on Clay, an autistic father, who takes his son on a spring break road trip, concealing the true purpose of their journey: to reconnect with the wife and mother who abandoned them fifteen years prior.
Josh Long, who both wrote and directed the film, previously co-wrote the psychological thriller Some Other Woman, which was directed by Joel David Moore and featured Tom Felton and Ashley Greene. That film was released theatrically through Radiant Films International.
Cinematography for Father Son Time is provided by Antonio Cisneros, whose recent projects include the Sundance-premiering film Cookie Queens, produced by Prince Harry and Meghan, as well as Disney+’s Mickey: The Story of a Mouse.
The film is co-produced by Long alongside Peter Borrud of Reverant Films and Alyssa Radmand Devine of PigRat Productions. The project is collaborating with Joey Travolta’s Inclusion Films, an initiative aimed at offering training and career opportunities in filmmaking for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Long shared his motivation for the film, stating, “The struggle of trying to be the right kind of dad is something I think about every day. I wanted to explore a story about a neurodivergent parent raising a neurotypical child, the unique challenges that come with that dynamic, and the kinds of characters shaped by those experiences.”
Weixler is recognized for her roles in the comedy-fantasy film Teeth, The Good Wife, and Ryan Murphy’s Monster. Ashworth, an astrophysicist turned actor, has appeared in MacGruber, NCIS, and The Resident. O’Brien is known for his performance in Wonka, Apple TV+’s Dear Edward, and will soon be featured in Hulu’s upcoming series The Land.
Representation for the cast includes Weixler with Gersh and Mosaic; O’Brien with Luber Roklin Entertainment and Innovative Artists; and Ashworth with J Pervis.
