Jerry O’Connell Shares His Thoughts on the Emotional Nick Reiner Murder Trial and Hopes for a Respectful Process
Jerry O’Connell Co-Hosts Good Day New York Amid Trial of Nick Reiner
Jerry O’Connell joined Fox 5’s Good Day New York as a guest co-host, coinciding with the court appearance of Nick Reiner, who is charged with the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Reiner.
During the morning show, O’Connell reflected on his experience working with Rob Reiner in the film Stand By Me, expressing concern about the potential media frenzy surrounding the trial. “This is very emotional for me to hear about. It’s going to be very difficult going through this whole trial process,” he stated.
O’Connell continued, stating his hope that the proceedings would remain dignified. “I’m going to be watching it closely in the hopes that it doesn’t become one of these circuses that sometimes happen around these murder trials. It’s very emotional and chilling, and it’s churning up a lot of emotions.”
O’Connell will co-host Good Day New York with Rosanna Scotto for the remainder of the week.
Nick Reiner faces two counts of first-degree murder related to the stabbing deaths of his parents. On his court date, he entered a not-guilty plea and was denied bail.
In the aftermath of the hearing, L.A. County District Attorney Nathan Hochman remarked, “One can probably expect that there will be that additional time sought because of the volume of the discovery that will have to be gone through by defense counsel. By the fact that we’re still waiting for the coroner’s report, and by the fact that if defense counsel wants to see any additional expert testimony, it will certainly take additional time.”
The unfolding situation remains closely watched as developments in the case progress.
