Jerry Bruckheimer is gearing up for his next major franchise blockbuster, whether by sea or air.
The two-time Oscar nominee recently provided insights on the forthcoming installments of the Pirates of the Caribbean and Top Gun franchises, indicating that he is “expecting a script shortly” for the latter.
Bruckheimer mentioned the competition between the two franchises during an interview with Entertainment Tonight, stating, “I think it’s a horse race between the two of them, so we’ll see. Right now, Top Gun is a hair ahead, but that’s it. We’re expecting a script shortly.”
While he refrained from sharing specifics, Bruckheimer confirmed that he has met with Margot Robbie regarding the next Pirates film, suggesting her involvement is likely.
In 2024, Bruckheimer announced that Jeff Nathanson was writing a reboot of the Pirates franchise, following his work on the fifth installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017). Additionally, a spin-off featuring Robbie, penned by Christina Hodson, is also in development.

Tom Cruise has also been vocal about his upcoming projects, stating he is “working on” a sequel to Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and a follow-up to his 1990 NASCAR drama Days of Thunder.
