When will the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel be released?
A specific release date has not yet been announced, as the film is in the early stages of production. The original film premiered on July 22, 2023.
What is the plot of the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel?
Unlike the first film, which was based on McQuiston’s best-selling novel, the sequel lacks a defined source material. The title, Red, White & Royal Wedding, was disclosed last October when the sequel was officially greenlit. Fans speculated that the film might center on the marriage of Alex Claremont-Diaz (played by Taylor Zakhar-Perez) and Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine).
A bonus chapter, included in the collector’s edition of Red, White & Royal Blue, depicts Alex and Henry engaged and planning their wedding. However, during production, Zakhar-Perez indicated that the wedding of Bea, Princess Beatrice—Henry’s younger sister, portrayed by Ellie Bamber—will be the primary focus of the sequel.
Who is part of the cast for the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel?
In addition to Zakhar-Perez, Galitzine, and Bamber, most of the original cast is set to reprise their roles, with a few newcomers joining the ensemble. Uma Thurman returns as Ellen Claremont, Alex’s mother and the President of the United States, while Clifton Collins Jr. reprises his role as Oscar Diaz, Alex’s father. Other returning cast members include Sarah Shahi as Sahra Bankston, Aneesh Sheth as Amy Gupta, and Rachel Hilson as Alex’s best friend, Nora Holleran. Additionally, Thomas Flynn will be back as Prince Philip, Henry’s older brother.
Stephen Fry and Malcolm Atobrah will also return. Lena Headey joins the cast as Princess Catherine, while details about Fineman’s role remain undisclosed.
Who is directing the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel?
Jamie Babbit will direct the film, with a script co-written by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López, and McQuiston. López directed the original adaptation.
Is there an accompanying book for the Red, White & Royal Blue sequel?
As of now, no sequel novel has been announced; however, McQuiston is involved in the screenplay for Red, White & Royal Wedding.
