Jeremy Boreing Shares His Journey After Leaving The Daily Wire: Insights on Ben Shapiro, Candace Owens, ‘The Pendragon Cycle,’ and the Shift in Hollywood
Former Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing Reflects on Media Journey Following Departure
In March 2025, the conservative media landscape underwent a notable shift following Jeremy Boreing’s unexpected resignation from the Daily Wire, a brand he significantly shaped. His exit propelled speculation about potential rifts with co-founder Ben Shapiro and issues within the company, though Shapiro has since downplayed those rumors. The primary reason for Boreing’s departure appears to be his desire to refocus on film and television projects.
Boreing, a native of Slaton, Texas, began his career in local theater as a writer and producer before relocating to Los Angeles in the early 2000s. In 2006, he joined forces with Kurt Schemper, Joel David Moore, and Zachary Levi to establish Coattails Entertainment, credited for the feature drama Spiral, which starred Moore, Levi, and Amber Tamblyn.
After questioning his place in Hollywood, Boreing transitioned to work at TruthRevolt, a conservative news site alongside Shapiro. This partnership eventually led to the founding of the Daily Wire in 2015. The company skyrocketed in popularity through subscription packages, popular podcasts, and a proactive approach to the culture wars. Axios reported a capital valuation exceeding $1 billion in 2023.
In a recent interview, Boreing discussed his tenure at the Daily Wire and his ambitions for the future. “It was an enormous adventure,” he stated, noting the shared victories for their conservative values, specifically highlighting the success of the documentary Am I Racist?, one of the decade’s top-grossing documentaries.
Over the years, his relationship with Shapiro evolved, initially founded on mutual respect and friendship. “Ben could be one of the great conservative media figures of his generation,” Boreing observed, reflecting on their collaborative spirit in navigating numerous challenges. However, both acknowledged that after nearly 15 years of partnership, their priorities began to diverge.
While Boreing did not characterize the ending of their partnership as amicable, he affirmed that deep bonds were forged through shared experiences. “If Ben or Caleb need a kidney, I’ve got two,” he said, underscoring the strength of their connection.
Among the regrets he shares, Boreing mentions hiring political commentator Candace Owens, admitting some misgivings while emphasizing the inevitability of mistakes in entrepreneurship. Regarding misunderstandings that arose during his time at the Daily Wire, he noted the contentious relationship with Owens, which ultimately became detrimental.
Addressing his outlook on future projects, Boreing expressed interest in creating a "conservative answer to A24," aiming to disrupt the current media landscape by offering a respectful alternative to mainstream Hollywood narratives. He asserted, “There’s a huge disruption happening in the industry… we’ve done such a poor job of taking advantage of moments of disruption.”
As he considers potential collaborations and new endeavors, Boreing remains optimistic about the future of conservative media. “I want to continue to have a voice in the cultural and political issues of our time,” he said, hinting at projects involving podcasts and films that align with his values.
Reflecting on his time at the Daily Wire and his future, Boreing affirms a commitment to creating culture rather than simply critiquing it. The path ahead may be complex, but his drive to impact the industry remains clear.
