Lawrence’s nomination for Outstanding Lead Performance placed her among a distinguished group of actors, including Ethan Hawke, Jessie Buckley, Tessa Thompson, Rose Byrne, and Josh O’Connor. This year, the film One Battle After Another received the most nominations with a total of six.
Jeffrey Sharp, executive director of The Gotham Film & Media Institute, emphasized the significance of this year’s nominees, stating, “This year’s nominees celebrate an extraordinary year of cinematic achievement — one defined by bold, original storytelling, festival breakouts, and filmmakers whose independent vision extends across studios and streamers.”
In her performance, Lawrence portrays a character grappling with postpartum depression and the complexities of early motherhood. She recently reflected on how her own experiences as a mother of two aided her in embodying this challenging role.

Lawrence shared insights on her postpartum journey, revealing, “I didn’t really end up having really bad postpartum [anxiety] until my second [baby].” She has two children—a three-year-old son, Cy Maroney, and a nine-month-old baby boy—with her husband, Cooke Maroney. She noted that her experiences enhanced her understanding of the needs of young children, adding, “I don’t think that you have to have kids to play a parent, but having that information was helpful.”
In an interview with The New Yorker, she discussed her body image following the birth of her son in 2022. This topic became particularly relevant as she filmed a nude scene in a recent movie shortly after giving birth. Reflecting on her post-pregnancy body, she remarked, “Everything bounced back, pretty much, after the first one. Second one, nothing bounced back.”
While she has faced speculation regarding cosmetic procedures, including fillers and a facelift, Lawrence confirmed that she uses Botox and expressed an interest in a potential breast augmentation. However, she acknowledged that the pressures of public life influence her decisions, stating, “If my life wasn’t being played out in the public eye, I probably wouldn’t be hustling to the appointment in the same way.”
