In a surprising revelation, actress Jennifer Aniston recently disclosed that she is not a natural blonde. During a promotional video for her haircare line, Lolavie, Aniston made the admission that her real hair color is, in fact, brunette.
On January 6, Aniston shared her hair color truth via Instagram. "Would I ever go brunette?" she asked before swiftly affirming, "I am brunette," in response to an off-screen question. The moment became lighthearted when her Friends co-star Courteney Cox entered the frame, playfully draping her dark hair over Aniston’s head. "Here," Cox said, “This is what she looks like, brunette.”
Aniston grinned and responded, "I’m brunette," while teasingly indicating that Cox’s hair was darker than her own. "That’s black!” she exclaimed, to which Cox quickly rebutted, “It’s not black! It’s dark brown.”
As the conversation transitioned, Aniston fondly recalled portraying a brunette in the 2011 film Horrible Bosses. “Oh, this is like the Horrible Bosses character I played,” she noted, prompting Cox to praise the film, exclaiming, "You were a badass dentist!"
Returning to the initial question, Aniston mused, “Would I ever go brunette? Yes. you saw that answer, right? Did that work? That I was a natural brunette? This is fake,” as she pointed at her iconic highlighted hair and laughed.
The post concluded with Aniston pondering, "Do blondes reeeaaalllyyy have more fun??" prompting enthusiastic responses from fans in the comments. One wrote, "Rachel & Monica debating hair in 2026, as they should," referencing their beloved characters, while another praised Aniston’s hair as a "lifestyle."
Aniston’s blonde locks have been a subject of cultural discussion for years. In 1994, she introduced "The Rachel," a layered bob haircut created by Chris McMillan, but she later expressed dissatisfaction with its maintenance. "I got that haircut and was like, ‘Wow, this is amazing,’” she recounted in a 2018 interview with InStyle. “And then I was totally left with this frizzy mop on my head, because I had no idea how to do what he did.”
Reflecting on her style evolution, Aniston eventually decided to grow her hair out, aiming for a more manageable cut. "Now I apply Living Proof Prime Style Extender and let it dry naturally for about an hour," she explained. Throughout her Friends tenure, Aniston’s hairstyles evolved, from a bob to longer locks, showcasing her versatility as an actress and a style icon.
