James Badge Dale, Elena Anaya, and Laurence Fishburne Join Forces in Crime-Thriller ‘Interference’ at Cannes Market
EXCLUSIVE: James Badge Dale, Elena Anaya, and Laurence Fishburne are set to star in the upcoming crime thriller Interference, directed and written by Mel Rodriguez III. The production, which also features Spencer Garrett in a co-starring role, is being produced by Rodriguez III alongside Juan Aura for Teté Studios.
Interference, set against the backdrop of Spain, explores the story of a successful American expatriate whose life begins to unravel following his arrest for crimes he claims he did not commit. As he navigates this turmoil, his past resurfaces, revealing deeper truths that challenge those around him.
Pia Patatian’s Noora Films is managing international rights to the film and is scheduled to present it to potential buyers at this week’s Cannes market. CAA Media Finance is handling U.S. rights.
Cinematographer Bryan Koss and casting director Juan Pablo Rincon are also attached to the project. Filming is yet to begin, with additional casting currently underway.
Highlighting the project’s appeal, producer Juan Aura commented, “What drew us in immediately was the precision of the writing and the clarity of Mel’s vision as a filmmaker. Interference is layered and controlled, with a very clear sense of tone and escalation that carries the audience all the way through. It operates as a tightly constructed psychological thriller, with characters that feel grounded and complex. That combination is rare and it’s what allowed us to attract this level of cast and build something that we believe can travel internationally.”
Pia Patatian, representing Noora Films, added, “Mel Rodriguez has assembled a sterling cast of globally renowned actors to bring his taut action thriller to life on the big screen. We know that our international partners will be eager to get on board this emotional rollercoaster ride.”
Fishburne is represented by CAA, Dale by CAA, MJ Management, and Michael Auerbach, Anaya by Borja de la Vega at Kuranda, Garrett by Paradigm, and Rodriguez III by Paul Miloknay.
