Amandaland Writer Shares Excitement Over Dream Guest Star After BAFTA Win: “She’s America’s Amanda”
Writer Amandaland Holly Walsh has an unexpected choice for her dream guest star—First Lady Melania Trump.
Walsh and her team won the award for Best Scripted Comedy at the BAFTA Television Awards last night. In a press conference following their win, Walsh expressed her desire to involve Trump in the show.
“She is very much America’s Amanda,” Walsh quipped. “Melania Narnia.”
Following Trump’s unexpected press conference regarding Jeffrey Epstein, British comedians have increasingly focused on her in their routines. She was recently parodied in an SNL UK cold open, where actress Emma Sidi portrayed her, reassuring a group of barbecue attendees in south London that she does not associate with the disgraced financier.
Meanwhile, Lucy Punch, the British actress known as Britain’s Amanda, did not secure the Actress in a Comedy award for her performance in the popular BBC series. She, along with co-stars Jennifer Saunders and Philippa Dunne, lost out to Here We Go’s Katherine Parkinson.

Despite the competition, Walsh remained optimistic and hinted at the possibility of a third season for one of the BBC’s most successful comedies in recent years.
“We are over the moon,” Walsh stated. “It’s just a load of middle-aged women being stupid, what more could you want?”
