Jack Alldridge Takes Center Stage in Hulu Pilot ‘Foster Dade’ by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran
Young English actor Jack Alldridge has been selected for the lead role in Foster Dade, a young adult drama pilot on Hulu. The series is written by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, with direction by Daniel Minahan. It is produced by Warner Bros. TV and Berlanti Productions.
Based on Nash Jenkins’ debut novel Foster Dade Explores the Cosmos, the story unfolds in both 2008 and the present day. It is characterized as a sophisticated mystery set within an East Coast boarding school, exploring themes of privilege, scandal, sexuality, and masculinity against the backdrop of social media, millennial anxiety, and the rise of pharmaceuticals.
Alldridge portrays the titular Foster Dade, a lonely transfer student at the prestigious Kennedy boarding school. Described as an anxious voracious reader, Foster self-medicates and maintains a blog at his psychologist’s suggestion. Yearning for connection and love, he is unaware that his desire for reinvention will thrust him into the middle of a significant scandal that will echo through the halls of Kennedy for years to come.

Joining Alldridge in the cast are Chloe East, who plays the female lead Annabeth—a popular girl who befriends Foster; Cameron Mann as fellow student Jack Albright; and Matt Bomer, portraying Alex Tierney, a talented teacher at the school.
The project showcases a production team that includes Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman as executive producers, alongside Doran, Jenkins, and Donald De Line of De Line Pictures. Filming for the pilot is set to commence today, December 2, in New York.
Alldridge, a 2023 graduate of the Guildford School of Acting, recently appeared as Harry, the son of President James A. Garfield (Michael Shannon), in Netflix’s limited series Death by Lightning. He is also featured in the highly viewed 2025 Christmas commercial for UK retailer John Lewis, which has garnered over 2 million views on YouTube since its release last month.
In a joint statement, Berlanti, Schechter, and Doran expressed their excitement, saying, “We knew the titular character of Foster Dade would be the heart and soul of this show. We needed an actor that could embody the full range of emotion and toe the line between hero and anti-hero. After a worldwide search and seeing thousands of talented young actors, we were lucky enough to find Jack Alldridge. Fresh out of drama school, Jack is an extraordinary talent. He has a bright future ahead and we are lucky to be a part of it.”
Alldridge’s next appearances will be in the BritBox/ITV1 series The Lady and in Season 15 of BBC/PBS’ Call The Midwife, both scheduled for release in 2026. He is represented by Hatch, Anonymous Content, and CAA.
