IOI Postpones Release of James Bond Game ‘007: First Light’ to Enhance Gameplay Experience
IO Interactive Delays Release of 007: First Light by Two Months
IO Interactive has officially postponed the release of its much-anticipated video game, 007: First Light, by two months. Originally slated for March 27, 2026, the new release date is now set for May 27, 2026, the date that was initially designated for the delayed GTA6.
In a statement shared on social media, the Danish developer outlined reasons for the delay. “The game is progressing well and is fully playable from beginning to end, so these additional two months will allow us to further polish and refine the experience, ensuring we deliver the strongest possible version at launch,” the statement read. “We’re confident this sets 007: First Light up for long-term success, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and continued support we’ve received ever since we revealed the game.”
The game was unveiled during the PlayStation 2025 State of Play event in September. In this iteration, actor Patrick Gibson, known for his role in Dexter: Original Sin, portrays a young James Bond during his early days at MI6. Gibson will be joined by a talented cast featuring Lennie James (Greenway), Priyanga Burford (M), Alastair Mackenzie (Q), Kiera Lester (Moneypenny), and Noémie Nakai (Ms. Roth).
A standard edition of the game is currently available for pre-order at $69.99. Pre-orders made before launch will automatically upgrade to the deluxe edition, which includes exclusive cosmetic features and 24-hour early access for digital download. Additionally, a special edition priced at $299.99 will be offered, which includes the base game, deluxe edition content, a Golden Gun figurine, a certificate of authenticity, a Steelcase with a magnet, a Golden Gun weapon skin, and an Obsidian Gold suit.
