Ice Cube Shares Excitement About His Cameo in ‘Anaconda’: “I Couldn’t Pass It Up”
Jack Black and Paul Rudd are set to bring a fresh perspective to the 1997 film Anaconda with their upcoming project, which features a notable cameo from at least one member of the original cast.
During the Los Angeles premiere of the Sony Pictures comedy on Saturday, Ice Cube announced his return to the screen, reprising his role nearly 30 years after portraying cameraman Danny Rich in the original film.
“It’s cool to do a cameo, to kind of make it go full circle in a way,” Ice Cube told reporters, as reported by People. “When they asked me to do it, when I knew the kind of movie they were doing, I jumped at it. I’m like, ‘This is something different. It’s cool.’”
He added, “People probably get a kick out of me popping on the screen.”
Slated for release on Christmas, Anaconda follows childhood best friends Doug (played by Black) and Griff (portrayed by Rudd) as they embark on the ambitious dream of remaking their favorite movie. When a midlife crisis prompts them to finally pursue this goal, they plunge into the Amazon to film. However, chaos ensues when a giant anaconda emerges, threatening their lives and turning their comedic production into a perilous endeavor.
The original Anaconda depicted documentary filmmaker Terri Flores (portrayed by Jennifer Lopez) and her crew as they ventured deep into the Amazon to seek out a forgotten tribe, only to find themselves under threat from the legendary snake.
