Home Invasion in Hollywood Hills: Elderly Woman Assaulted and Hospitalized
Woman Strangled During Violent Home Invasion in Hollywood Hills
LOS ANGELES – A woman in her 70s is recovering in the hospital following a brutal home invasion that occurred in the Hollywood Hills on the evening of September 9. Law enforcement officials report that at least two masked suspects forcibly entered her residence and attacked her, ultimately leaving with a significant amount of stolen valuables.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), officers responded to the incident around 9 p.m. in the 8500 block of Lookout Mountain Avenue. The assailants, described as masked men clad in black hoodies, strangled the victim before fleeing the scene with approximately $20,000 in cash and jewelry.
"The suspects targeted cash and jewelry before leaving the area in a white sedan," an LAPD spokesperson stated. The Robbery-Homicide Division of the LAPD has since taken over the investigation as they work to identify and apprehend the suspects.
While the investigation continues, police have not released detailed descriptions of the suspects beyond their clothing, and it remains unclear if the victim’s home was specifically targeted. The current condition of the victim has also not been disclosed.
This incident is particularly concerning amid a reported surge of 20 break-ins over the past two weeks, particularly concentrated in the San Fernando Valley. In response to rising crime rates, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell have announced enhanced patrols along Ventura Boulevard and in surrounding communities, including Studio City, Encino, and North Hollywood.
Despite recent reports of increased criminal activity, LAPD statistics indicate that overall burglary rates are down significantly in 2026 compared to the previous year, showing a decline between 32% and 48% for the same time period in 2025. The department continues to prioritize community safety and crime prevention.
