Hilary Duff made a highly anticipated return to the stage, delighting fans with a performance that harkened back to her early career.
The actress and singer, 38, took the spotlight at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on January 19, performing her 2003 classic, “What Dreams Are Made Of,” live for the first time, as reported by Rolling Stone. The song originally featured in The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
This performance arrives just ahead of the February 2 release of Duff’s new album, luck…or something. The first single, “Mature,” debuted on November 6, followed by “Roommates,” which dropped on January 16.
Duff recently released “Roommates” along with a striking music video that recalls the visual style of her earlier hit “Come Clean.” In the new video, she is seen gazing out a rain-soaked window.

The track “Roommates” explores themes of yearning for the exhilarating moments of romance that have faded into banality. The lyrics include reflections of a relationship that has lost its spark, emphasizing the desire to reconnect with a former sense of intimacy.
In her own words, Duff described, “’Roommates’ is a song about when life is life-ing, babe. It’s that ache for a wilder, freer time — before the days were swallowed by carpools, budget talks, grocery runs and letting old or new insecurities slip in. It’s the restless hum of wanting to find your way back — to your rhythm, to your person, to yourself.”
As part of promoting luck…or something, Duff’s Small Rooms, Big Nerves Tour will proceed with a performance in Toronto on January 24, followed by a series of shows in the U.S., including an upcoming residency in Las Vegas.
