Hayden Panettiere Shares Her Journey: Life Behind the Scenes and Beyond
Hayden Panettiere Embraces a Busy and Creative 2026
Hayden Panettiere, a New York native with over 25 years in the entertainment industry, is entering 2026 with a full agenda and renewed creative energy. “I have my work cut out for me this year, but I’m very excited,” said the 36-year-old actress, highlighting her active schedule. “They say an idle mind is the devil’s playground, so we keep on keeping on.”
Central to Panettiere’s current momentum is the upcoming film Sleepwalker, a psychological thriller from Appian Way and Verdi Productions set to release on January 9. Not only does she star in the film, but she also serves as a producer. This project represents a significant evolution for the actress, known for her role as Claire Bennet on Heroes and her acclaimed performances in Nashville and the Scream franchise.
Alongside her film endeavors, Panettiere has been diligently working on a memoir for the past year and a half. “I can’t say too much about it just now, but I will say it’s been an incredibly cathartic and therapeutic experience,” she revealed. The actress hopes her writing will resonate with readers struggling with their own challenges: “There’s nothing that is easy about sharing your stories with the entire world to judge, but I really hope that this book will inspire people and hopefully make people feel less alone in their own struggles. That’s my ultimate wish.”
The memoir process has been a learning experience. “It’s definitely not something I was used to,” Panettiere admitted, acknowledging the support she received from a dedicated team. “It was interesting trying to put my life in chronological order and tell my stories from beginning to end. The memories of my life don’t always flow very well. But when the stories started flowing, they just came one after another.”
Panettiere’s acting career began at age four, giving her valuable skills in managing emotional intensity. “Growing up, we had to go to school on set as well,” she reflected. “You get 20 minutes in between a scene where maybe somebody passed away or something intense happened, and then you’re rolling right into 20 minutes of algebra.” As she matures, she finds herself more invested in her roles. “As I’ve gotten older, I also find myself investing more and more into my job and going deeper with the characters that I play, which can definitely suck you in.”
To clear her mind, she often turns to reading. “I enjoy and have found it really helpful to focus on one thing,” she stated, noting her love for fantasy and sci-fi. “It takes me out of our world and lets me exist and create another in my mind. It’s like meditation for me.”
This intentionality extends to her beauty routine, which she approaches with care. “I’m a huge fan of Oribe, Glow Recipe, and Moon Juice,” she stated, emphasizing that her focus has shifted more towards inner health as she has aged. Old habits persist, as she continues to rely on Neutrogena wipes: “Years later, I still use them religiously! What can I say, they are really good.”
Sleepwalker marks not only Panettiere’s return to acting in complex narratives but also her growth as a producer. The film, which centers on a mother grappling with the loss of her daughter in a tragic accident, showcases her personal and professional development. “It’s a psychological thriller that is about this mother who loses her daughter in a tragic car accident,” she explained. Filmed in just 15 days, this experience proved transformative: “Not just getting to act, but getting to be on the production side—that was really exciting.”
Working with first-time live-action director Brandon Auman and an engaging ensemble cast, Panettiere found the project to be both inspiring and enjoyable. With Sleepwalker set for release this January, she is eager to pursue projects that are meaningful and aligned with her artistic vision.
