Destination X Is Coming Back for Season 2 on NBC
NBC’s "Destination X" Renewed for Second Season, Casting Now Open
NBC has announced the renewal of its hit reality series "Destination X" for a second season, offering new contestants the chance to compete for a grand prize of $250,000. Hosted by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, known for his roles in The Walking Dead and The Boys, the casting call for the upcoming season is officially underway.
The inaugural season, which premiered in May 2025, achieved remarkable success. It averaged 14 million viewers across linear and streaming platforms within its first 26 days and emerged as the top alternative series launch on Peacock. Over the course of its 10-episode run, "Destination X" captivated approximately 20 million viewers across all platforms.
In this unique competition, contestants embark on a road trip, unaware of their travel destinations. They must decipher clues from a mystery bus and participate in challenges designed to assist them in pinpointing their location. However, misdirects are also strategically implemented to maintain an air of suspense. At the conclusion of each episode, the contestant who misplaces an “X” farthest from the actual location is eliminated, while the last participant standing is crowned the champion of "Destination X." Throughout the first season, contestants explored notable cities including London, Rome, and Paris.
Produced by ITV-owned Twofour in collaboration with Universal Television Alternative Studio, the show is executive produced by Andy Cadman, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and several others. Production for the second season is slated to commence later this year.
"Destination X" is based on a Belgian format created by Geronimo and distributed by Be-Entertainment. The project forms part of a partnership between NBCUniversal and the BBC, which has its own version of the format that aired last year, though its renewal status remains uncertain.
Sharon Vuong, Executive Vice President of Unscripted Programming at NBC, expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming season, stating, “With the incomparable Jeffrey Dean Morgan back at the helm, Season 2 promises to deliver surprising twists and push boundaries even further.” Toby Gorman, President of Universal Television Alternative Studio, added that the new season aims to elevate the experience with even more adventurous and unexpected elements.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan is represented by UTA, Goodman, Genow, Schenkman, Smelkinson & Christopher, and Viewpoint. The excitement surrounding "Destination X" continues to build as fans anticipate new adventures in this globally inspired series.
