Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone Trailer Sets New Record for HBO and HBO Max Viewership
HBO’s highly anticipated adaptation of the Harry Potter book series is setting records even before its release. The trailer for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone garnered an impressive 277 million organic views across various platforms within its first 48 hours, making it the most-watched trailer in the history of HBO and HBO Max, a feat that more than doubles the previous record.
This new series, based on J.K. Rowling’s beloved novels, is scheduled to premiere on Christmas 2026 and will be available for streaming on HBO Max.
The cast of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone includes Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. Notable performances will also be delivered by John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape. Other key roles feature Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, and Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy.
Synopsis
The story follows Harry Potter as he receives a letter of admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on his 11th birthday, unveiling a magical world filled with friendship and adventure. However, this new journey brings significant challenges, as Harry must confront a formidable enemy from his past.
Additional cast members include Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, and siblings Tristan and Gabriel Harland as Fred and George Weasley, respectively. The ensemble is rounded out by Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick, among others.
The script for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone is penned and executive-produced by Francesca Gardiner, with Mark Mylod serving as executive producer and director for several episodes.
