Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Skincare Tips with Timothée Chalamet After a Makeup Mix-Up
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Makeup Mix-Up with Timothée Chalamet
In a recent episode of The Run-Through With Vogue, Gwyneth Paltrow remarked on a surprising mix-up involving her co-star Timothée Chalamet from the upcoming film Marty Supreme. During the December 2 episode, Paltrow revealed she mistook Chalamet’s makeup for skin imperfections.
“In Marty Supreme, Timothée has pockmarks, and they made his eyes beady with contacts and glasses,” the 53-year-old actress explained. She shared how a comment from Chalamet about his skin prompted her to offer unsolicited advice. “I was like, ‘Oh, you know, you can do micro-needling for that,’” she recalled. Chalamet’s candid response, “This is makeup!” left Paltrow surprised. “I was like, ‘Oh, s***.’ I didn’t realize. The makeup was so good that I thought he had little acne scars.”
Paltrow noted that in reality, Chalamet possesses “beautiful skin,” highlighting how the transformative makeup had deceived her. She acknowledged that her experiences in film have not required such drastic alterations to her appearance. “I’ve never done anything like that where I’m really transformed in the face,” she admitted.
Martyr Supreme, directed by Josh Safdie, is set for a Christmas Day release. The film portrays a fictionalized version of real-life ping-pong champion Marty Reisman, depicting his tumultuous journey in 1950s New York City as he strives for greatness in table tennis. Alongside Paltrow and Chalamet, the cast features Tyler, the Creator, Fran Drescher, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, and Sandra Bernhard.
In her role, Paltrow plays Kay Stone, a film star romantically linked to Reisman, though already entangled with someone in the “ping-pong mafia.” The filming process included passionate scenes between Paltrow and Chalamet, who were spotted in Central Park in October 2024.
During an interview with Vanity Fair, Paltrow hinted at the intensity of their on-screen chemistry, stating that they share “a lot” of intimate scenes. When discussing potential vulnerability during filming, Paltrow quipped, “Beyond.” However, she expressed a preference not to have an intimacy coordinator on set, revealing that she hadn’t even been aware the role existed until she was cast as Kay.
Reflecting on her filming experience, she stated, “We said, ‘I think we’re good. You can step a little bit back.’” Paltrow added that being given specific instructions would have felt stifling as an artist. “I would feel, as an artist, very stifled by that,” she said.
Paltrow humorously addressed the age difference during intimate scenes, stating, “I was like, ‘OK, great. I’m 109 years old. You’re 14.’”
Martyr Supreme releases in theaters nationwide on December 25.
