- Gwyneth Paltrow discusses her on-screen kiss with Ethan Hawke in 1998’s Great Expectations.
- In a recent interview, she emphasized that her new film’s kissing scene was not filmed at the same location as her previous one with Hawke, stating, “Never. I never would have done that.”
Gwyneth Paltrow expressed her sentiments regarding an iconic kissing scene from the 1998 film Great Expectations, where she starred alongside Ethan Hawke. During a recent interview with Hawke, conducted for Vanity Fair, she clarified her stance on filming a similar scene in Central Park for her upcoming movie, Marty Supreme.
In the discussion, Hawke pointed out that Paltrow has a kissing scene with co-star Timothée Chalamet in Central Park. Upon confirming the location, he inquired whether it was the same spot where she kissed him in Great Expectations, a moment set against a picturesque fountain backdrop in the park.
Paltrow firmly denied this possibility, stating, “No. Honey, never,” and added, “I never would have desecrated our make-out spot like that.” The affectionate banter between the two highlighted their nostalgic connection to the film’s memorable scenes.
In Great Expectations, Paltrow portrayed Estella, while Hawke played Finnegan “Finn” Bell, a young man smitten by her character. The film, directed by Alfonso Cuarón and adapted from the classic work by Charles Dickens, has remained a significant part of both actors’ careers.
In her upcoming film, Marty Supreme, Paltrow takes on the role of Kay Stone, the love interest of Chalamet’s character, Marty Mauser. This film marks Paltrow’s return to the big screen since her appearance in Avengers: Endgame in 2019 and includes a cast featuring Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, and Fran Drescher.
The trailer for Marty Supreme, set to the classic tune “Forever Young” by Alphaville, showcases Chalamet’s character aspiring to chart a path to stardom in the world of table tennis. The film is directed by Josh Safdie, known for his work on Uncut Gems, and centers around a young man facing considerable challenges in pursuit of his dreams.
Scheduled for release in theaters on December 25, Marty Supreme promises to be a compelling story of ambition and love.
