Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s family life is marked by their three children, whom they cherish deeply.
After marrying in 1997, Parker, known for her role in Sex and the City, and Broderick, famous for Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, became parents to James Wilkie and twins Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell. While they often keep their children out of the limelight, Parker did acknowledge them in her January 2026 Golden Globes acceptance speech, where she received the Carol Burnett Award.
“To my beloved family, my brilliant husband Matthew Broderick, who has been my husband for just shy of 30 years,” Parker stated. “Who has given me a family discount, an all-access pass to his masterclass in acting, comedy and dedication.” She added, “To our divine James Wilkie, Loretta and Tabitha, oh God. I love you so deeply and admire so much the people that you are becoming. That every day at home and at work, I want to make you proud.”

James Wilkie Broderick, their eldest, was born on October 28, 2002, at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, weighing 6 lbs, 8 oz. He was named after Broderick’s late father, actor James Broderick. Following his birth, publicists confirmed that both mother and child were doing well, with Broderick expressing that the family was “totally over the moon.”
Although its uncommon for the Broderick children to make public appearances, James has occasionally joined his parents at special events. He made an impression at the New York premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in 2010, where he revealed he was a “big fan” of the series. He also participated in the premiere of And Just Like That… in 2021 and has shared insights on the reboot.
Reflecting on the newly released series, James said, “I tried to watch the new one and I liked it but then I felt weird, ’cause I haven’t watched the original. I guess it’s kind of obvious why maybe I hadn’t watched the original show as a kid.” As he transitions into adulthood, he maintains a close bond with his parents and is exploring his own acting pursuits. In February 2025, he guest-starred alongside his father on CBS’ Elsbeth, an experience Broderick described as “so proud and happy to work with my son.”
James graduated from Brown University in May 2025, proudly sharing photos on social media, one of which included him posing next to a statue of the Roman emperor Augustus.

On June 22, 2009, Parker and Broderick welcomed twins Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell via surrogate in Martins Ferry, Ohio. The twins adopted family names from Parker and have unique personalities, with different interests and preferences, as shared by Parker in previous interviews.
In a 2022 episode of Vogue’s Life in Looks, Parker recounted her memorable fashion moments and revealed that her daughters were astonished to see her on the cover of Vogue in a beautiful gown. “Both my daughters’ hands went to their mouths, and they were like, ‘You’re on the cover of Vogue?'”

In June 2025, Parker noted that while her daughters appreciate fashion, it does not dominate their lives. “They definitely have ideas about how they want to feel and look when they walk out the door,” she remarked. They are also fans of her iconic film Hocus Pocus and expressed excitement when Parker reunited with co-stars Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy for the sequel Hocus Pocus 2.
Parker’s daughters joined their parents for various public appearances, including a recent release party for Marc Shaiman’s book, Never Mind the Happy, held at Sardi’s in New York.
