Getting Ready: Bay League’s Outstanding Senior Pitchers for the 2026 Baseball Season
Top High School Pitchers Stand Out in Bay League
As the high school baseball season unfolds, Bay League games promise to showcase exceptional pitching talent. During Thursday’s media day at Mira Costa, three senior pitchers displayed both physical readiness and competitive spirit.
Garrett Jacobs of Mira Costa, along with fellow UCLA commit Robby Zimmerman from Redondo Union and USC commit Kai Van Scoyoc, are poised to make an impact following strong junior seasons. Additionally, junior Jonah Cohen, also a UCLA commit from Palos Verdes, adds to the challenge for Bay League hitters this year.
Jacobs emerged as a standout last season with an impressive record of 11-1, notching 103 strikeouts and allowing just 13 walks across 70 innings. Zimmerman’s attributes, including his height at 6-foot-6, position him as a top prospect. Van Scoyoc and Cohen are expected to form a formidable one-two pitching punch for Palos Verdes, and their camaraderie promises to enhance the competition.
Zimmerman is related to Redondo Union girls’ volleyball star Abby Zimmerman. While many in his family excel in volleyball, Robby and his brother Danny, a former player at Michigan, have made their mark in baseball. He enjoys beach outings with his family, where his height gives him an edge in the games they play.
In addition to these athletes, Torrance and West Torrance are also potential contenders in the Bay League. Torrance returns its ace pitcher, junior Aiden Anaya, who is currently engaged in soccer, while Joey Kim is expected to take on a key pitching role for West Torrance.
Mira Costa players enjoy a unique advantage, frequently encountering professional baseball players in Manhattan Beach. The school will hold its alumni game on Saturday to honor five graduates who have played in the major leagues: Kyle Karros, Chase Meidroth, Petey Halpin, Joe Moeller, and Jim Pena.
The excitement surrounding this season’s Bay League could create unforgettable moments for fans and athletes alike.
