Get Ready for Fun: Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis, and Josh Gad Star in the Upcoming ‘Spaceballs’ Movie Next Spring
EXCLUSIVE: Amazon MGM Studios is set to make a significant announcement today at Caesars Palace Colosseum, revealing that the highly anticipated new Spaceballs movie will debut in theaters on April 23, 2027.
The final weekend of April has a strong history at the box office, featuring successful films such as Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, and Fast Five, along with this year’s Michael from Lionsgate.
Directed by Josh Greenbaum, known for Will & Harper, and penned by Josh Gad, Dan Hernandez, and Benji Samit, the storyline of the new Spaceballs remains under wraps. However, it is widely recognized as a follow-up to the cult classic directed by Mel Brooks in 1987.
The film will see the return of original cast members, including Mel Brooks, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, George Wyner, and Daphne Zuniga, alongside newcomers such as Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, and Anthony Carrigan.

Producers for the project include Brian Grazer and Ron Howard of Imagine Entertainment, as well as Brooks, Gad, Greenbaum, and Kevin Salter. Executive producers are Adam Merims, Samit, and Hernandez, with production efforts from Imagine Entertainment, Brooksfilms Limited, and Angry Child Productions.
Also scheduled for release on April 23, 2027, is Warner Bros’ untitled F.A.S.T. movie, directed by Ben Richardson and starring Brendon Sklenar. Meanwhile, the summer box office will be invigorated by the debut of Sony and Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda during the first full weekend of May.
