Freddie Freeman Joins the Dodgers After Welcoming Baby Daughter London
Freddie Freeman Welcomes Fourth Child, Returns to Dodgers
Freddie Freeman announced he is officially finished expanding his family after the birth of his daughter, London. The baseball star shared his joy, stating, "You will not be seeing another baby announcement from the Freemans, this is it, we are happily done with four."
Having just welcomed his daughter, Freeman has embraced his new role as a father of four. He spent the past few days adjusting to life with a newborn girl, alongside her three older brothers, learning the ropes of diaper changing. His joyous announcement came shortly before his return to the Los Angeles Dodgers from the paternity list on Tuesday night, where he resumed his position at first base for the start of a three-game series against San Francisco.
“It was awesome, I got to hold her one last time before I got on a plane this afternoon,” Freeman remarked. “She’s perfect, everything we had hoped for. She is everything we could ask for. She is the perfect addition.”
Freeman quickly shifted his focus back to baseball after spending time with his daughter. He engaged in drills with first-base coach Chris Woodward at Oracle Park, following a practice session in his backyard. Freeman’s daughter London Rosemary Joy Freeman was born Sunday and returned home Monday. He expressed gratitude toward the surrogate who carried their newborn, and his wife, Chelsea, shared a family photo on social media. The baby’s name reflects Chelsea’s English heritage and honors Freeman’s late mother, Rosemary Joy.
Now 36, Freeman has started the season strong, batting .296 with three home runs and 14 RBIs across 20 games. Over the weekend, he and baby London watched the Dodgers achieve a decisive 12-3 victory against Colorado.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts noted the excitement surrounding Freeman’s return: “I know he’s happy to be back, happy that his baby girl is healthy."
Freeman also expressed enthusiasm for Ryan Ward, who made his major league debut in Freeman’s absence and achieved two hits against the Rockies. “I am happy. I got to know Ryan over the last few years. He’s an incredibly hard worker; he worked so hard for that moment. To go out there and get two hits, an RBI, in his big league debut was special. We all know he can do it, so I’m sure there will be another opportunity at some point for him to get back.”
