Fox Renews Popular Shows: What’s Coming Back This Season?
Fox Network Renews Unscripted Series Ahead of Upfronts
Fox has announced the renewal of several unscripted series, securing the future of popular programs in anticipation of its upcoming Upfronts presentation. The network will bring back Celebrity Weakest Link, Extracted, and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, among others.
Among the renewals, Celebrity Weakest Link, hosted by Jane Lynch, will return for a second season. Additionally, Extracted will enter its third season, while Don’t Forget The Lyrics will continue into its fourth season. The network is also bringing back Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test for its fifth season, and Celebrity Name That Tune will be renewed for a sixth season.
In further developments, Fox previously announced that Fear Factor: House of Fear is set for a second season, alongside The Floor, which will return for both its sixth and seventh seasons. Lego Masters will also be back for its sixth season with a new host, and Beat Shazam has been renewed for its eighth season. Next Level Chef will continue into its sixth season, along with 99 To Beat, which is set for its sophomore year.
However, not all series will return. The Snake, a reality competition hosted by Jim Jeffries that premiered in June 2025, and the long-running dance show So You Think You Can Dance, which concluded its 18th season in 2024, have been canceled.
Fox CEO Rob Wade explained that the extensive renewals were partially influenced by uncertainties surrounding potential strikes from actors and writers. “We do buy more shows than we need for the season,” Wade stated during the Upfronts press call. “Thankfully, it feels like the discussions between the unions have gone well, but there was a time in March, and before that January and February, where we were unsure. We could have been looking at another strike action for this year, and who knows what’s going to happen.”
Wade emphasized the importance of unscripted programming within Fox’s strategy: “It’s better to have a show ready to go than to try and rush a show to be made.”
