Finn Wolfhard Hints at a New Tool for His Character in the Final Season of Stranger Things: Be Prepared

Update on Stranger Things Final Season

Finn Wolfhard has revealed some intriguing details about his character, Mike Wheeler, from the hit Netflix series Stranger Things. During a panel discussion at The Paley Museum in New York City on December 18, Wolfhard hinted that Mike will wield a "weapon" in the fifth and final season, which is set to release in installments on Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve.

The 22-year-old actor shared this insight while addressing an audience that included fellow cast members Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, and show creators Matt and Ross Duffer. The panel was marked by camaraderie, as Wolfhard and Dyer discussed their characters’ relationship.

Wolfhard spoke fondly of the connection between Mike and his older sister, Nancy Wheeler, portrayed by Dyer. "There’s something really special about Mike and Nancy’s relationship," he noted, recalling that his first audition scene involved Mike asking Nancy to keep a secret about Eleven, the telekinetic character they both care for.

He further elaborated on their bond, stating, "No matter what, Nancy always kind of knows what’s going on… I feel like Nancy is the Mike of her friend group." Dyer chimed in, agreeing that there is a leadership quality in both characters.

In a light-hearted exchange, Wolfhard humorously acknowledged Dyer’s character’s skills, saying, "She’s way better with a gun," before teasing the audience, "Hey everybody, watch out! … I have a weapon in this season. That’s all I’ll say."

This revelation highlights a potential shift for Mike’s character, traditionally seen as the group’s strategist rather than a fighter. Wolfhard also mentioned that he and Dyer requested more scenes together from the Duffer Brothers, emphasizing their desire for a stronger storyline as siblings, given their limited screen interactions in earlier seasons.

As fans eagerly await the release of the final season, the first four episodes are currently available for streaming on Netflix. Three new episodes will premiere on December 25, followed by the series finale on December 31.
