Filmmakers Start Production on Religious Horror Film ‘It Visits Me,’ Inspired by Popular Short
YouTube Filmmakers to Begin Production on Psychological Horror Film
Cameron Gallagher and Jeremiah Lewis, prominent figures in the YouTube horror filmmaking community, are set to commence production next week on their upcoming psychological horror film, It Visits Me. This project is inspired by their viral short of the same name, which is nearing 100,000 views on the platform.
Gallagher will take on the dual role of writer and director, while Lewis serves as producer and co-writer. The film centers on Layla, a young woman who returns to her childhood home, where her sister Abigail claims to be visited by an angel.
The cast includes Sara Hallisey and Hayley Gasbarro, with a cameo appearance by Toby Poser. The cinematography will be handled by Adam Muro, a long-time collaborator who recently finished work on Claws, featuring Thomas Middleditch and Jess Weixler.
Gallagher and Lewis describe It Visits Me as a slow-burn psychological horror, influenced by films like Saint Maud, The Lodge, and Possession. They emphasize the film’s focus on the religious horror subgenre.
The duo has previously collaborated on several YouTube horror shorts, and Gallagher’s work has also been featured in the acclaimed series Bloody Bites from Screambox and Bloody Disgusting.
“I’ve always found religious horror to be the scariest, and being able to bring something both scary and satisfying on a character level is what I’m drawn to most as a director,” Gallagher explained.
Lewis added, “We are drawn to stories of people who have been thrown outside their comfort zone in just about every way, and are forced to confront what that disruption means psychologically — how just the act of disruption creates space for horror in a personal way.”
