Filmmaker Petra Volpe, Known for ‘Late Shift’ and ‘Frank & Louis,’ Joins UTA Agent Family
UTA Signs Acclaimed Writer and Director Petra Volpe
UTA has secured a talent representation deal with Swiss-Italian writer and director Petra Volpe, known for her impactful storytelling across film and television.
Volpe gained widespread recognition for her 2015 family drama Heidi, which grossed $38 million, marking it as one of the most successful Swiss films to date. Her recent project, Frank & Louis, her first English-language film, features notable actors Kingsley Ben-Adir and Rob Morgan. The film premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and received positive reviews from critics.
In 2025, Volpe’s film Late Shift debuted in the Special Gala section of the Berlin International Film Festival. The film performed well in German-speaking regions and represented Switzerland in the 98th Academy Awards, where it was shortlisted for the International Feature category.
Volpe first captured international attention with her debut film Dreamland, which garnered four Swiss Film Award nominations. She achieved critical acclaim with The Divine Order, which premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Festival, winning the Nora Ephron Prize, the Audience Award, and Best Actress. The film also became a box-office success in Switzerland, earning seven Swiss Film Award nominations.
In addition to her film work, Volpe created the miniseries Labyrinth of Peace and recently received the Golden Eye award from the Zurich Film Festival.
