Feds Take Action in MacArthur Park: $10M in Fentanyl Seized and 17 Arrested
Federal Drug Raid Targets MacArthur Park
LOS ANGELES – Federal and local law enforcement agencies executed a significant drug raid at MacArthur Park on Wednesday afternoon, seizing over $10 million worth of fentanyl, according to authorities.
The raid was led by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) in collaboration with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). A total of 17 arrests were made during the operation, which is part of the Justice Department’s "Free MacArthur Park" initiative aimed at combating the park’s prevalent open-air drug market.
This coordinated effort extended beyond MacArthur Park, with additional arrests occurring in San Gabriel and Calabasas and multiple search warrants executed throughout Southern California. Federal officials reported the recovery of 19 kilograms of fentanyl, linked to drug dealers associated with cartels.
Witness reports and aerial footage from SkyFOX revealed a heavy police presence at the park during the raid. The operation involved hundreds of personnel from the DEA and LAPD, addressing issues related to high crime rates, drug overdoses, encampments, and other illicit activities in the area.
This ongoing situation is developing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
