A new year brings a new Sundance Film Festival on the horizon.
On December 10, the festival announced a dynamic lineup for its upcoming event in Park City, Utah, running from January 22 to February 1. Highlighted among the new projects are films featuring Channing Tatum, Natalie Portman, Alexander Skarsgård, Rashida Jones, Olivia Wilde, Charli XCX, and others.
The 2026 edition is significant as it will be the final festival in Utah before relocating to Boulder, Colorado in 2027. Additionally, it serves as a tribute to the late Robert Redford, who passed away on September 16 at the age of 89. According to a press release, the festival will “serve as a meaningful tribute” to the filmmaker.
“The 2026 Sundance Film Festival will be a truly pivotal and memorable moment as we celebrate artists and their visionary works, honor our Sundance Institute founder, Robert Redford, and his transformative vision, and show our gratitude to Utah by commemorating our collective journey,” stated Amanda Kelso, Acting CEO of Sundance Institute. “We are eager to once again foster connection and creativity as we champion and share independent storytelling with audiences.”

Among the 90 feature films and seven episodic projects, representing 28 countries, are Tatum and Gemma Chan in Josephine; producer-star Portman and Charli XCX in The Gallerist; and the Wilde-directed, Jones-written The Invite, starring Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, Edward Norton, and Wilde.
Some A-listers are slated to premiere multiple projects in Park City, including Skarsgård in Wicker (co-starring Olivia Colman and Peter Dinklage) and The Moment, which also features Charli XCX.
The festival’s first half will include premieres and events throughout Park City and Salt Lake City, while the second half will offer at-home programming. According to the release, “During the second half of the Festival, the Park City Legacy program will celebrate the Festival’s rich history and shared experiences in Utah through archival screenings of iconic films from previous editions and artist talks with notable Festival alumni.”
Kim Yutani, the festival’s director of programming, noted, “Each year, we have the privilege of introducing distinctive storytellers to audiences, and we are grateful to the artists who entrust us with their films at the start of the journey. The upcoming edition will be especially profound in introducing brand-new works while concurrently marking the significance of the many films we have been fortunate to present that have had a long-lasting impact on independent film and culture.”
