Evacuation Notices as Wildfire Erupts in Simi Valley
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. – Firefighters are currently engaged in combating a wildfire that ignited in Simi Valley late Monday morning.
The Ventura County Fire Department reported that the blaze was first detected in the 600 block of Sandy Avenue, close to Sycamore Park. In response to the emergency, aerial tankers and mutual aid resources have been requested to assist with firefighting efforts.
This wind-driven fire emerges as fire crews across Southern California remain on heightened alert due to ongoing dry conditions, elevated winds, and low humidity levels.
Over the weekend, two separate wildfires in the Antelope Valley were reported but have since been fully contained.
